I’ve been working as a volunteer teacher for a non-profit group that helps young children read and write across the United States. I’ve started doing this job when I was 19 year old. Since I started college, I’ve been active in doing social works. Compassion and patience crossed my mind to share information and this make up a good teacher. Aside from being a preschool teacher in one of the known kindergarten schools here in California, I also managed to work in this non-profit organization.
I was determined to do this special task since I like to educate young children especially those who couldn’t afford to go to school. It’s not an easy job but it’s worth it. Teaching children how to read and write isn’t really a hard job but it requires commitment.
I like to share stories with children. I’ve been using many strategies and techniques in order to get the interest of children. A lot of them enjoy listening and reading stories. To make any story alive, colorful images must be included. I’ve been using printed pictures since I started this job. However, as time passed by, I noticed that showing pictures on papers are becoming common to children. I needed to present a better idea.
Back in the kindergarten school, we use LCD for showing pictures and stuffs to our class. I used this same idea when I teach for the organization. I had a laptop to use anyway. But there’s one problem though. My laptop’s screen wasn’t enough for children to see. A bigger screen was what I needed to have. This gave me the idea to use a projector.
I searched for a small projector that I can easily carry. I found the PJM-1000 Mini Pocket Projector that has great features. Then, I began using slideshows and videos of the characters of the strories I like to share to the children. I was excited to see the children again.
During the Christmas program last year, I was glad I was able to do my special teaching assignment with the help of the projector. There were more than 30 children came that day. I was glad that I had the projector to use which enables the children to read and listen to stories with big smiles on their faces. They enjoyed the stories a lot. The moving pictures were a great eye-catcher to them.
This wasn’t the last time I used the projector. Since then, the mini projector became my effective audio-visual aid. I’ve realized that teaching becomes effective when I use both visual and audio aids. The mini projector helped me do that. Any children would be delighted to attentively learn if you do extra things that would make them excited. That’s exactly what the projector does. I had been teaching anywhere with the projector since it can be plugged and projected anywhere as long as there’s a dark room available for me to play the stories.
The PJM-1000 Mini Pocket Projector isn’t only a tool to use for entertainment but also for presentation. I’ve proven that myself and would be always relying on using the projector.
